Joining Te Rōpū Whakahau

Te Rōpū Whakahau is a growing association of Māori in working in library and information management. Te Rōpū Whakahau offers an extensive support network across Aotearoa New Zealand for Māori library and information workers. This support ranges from regional and national activities to simply socialising with other members. Te Rōpū Whakahau also embraces Māori working in museums, galleries and archives.

If you are a current or former member of Te Rōpū Whakahau and you wish to update your contact information or other details, or simply check on your membership status, you can use the update form, or send an e-mail to the Kaitiaki Putea.

Professional registration

Te Rōpū Whakahau is affiliated to the LIANZA Library and Information Profession Registration Scheme, as per our partnership agreement and position statement.
If you are applying for registration as a financial member of Te Rōpū Whakahau, please e-mail the Kaitiaki Putea to confirm your membership with the LIANZA office.

How do I join?

There are four types of subscription to Te Rōpū Whakahau:

  1. Personal membership - new member:  $20.00
    • applicant must be of Māori descent
    • entitled to one vote at the annual general meeting (AGM)
  2. Personal membership - renewing member:  $50.00
    • applicant must be of Māori descent
    • entitled to one vote at AGM
  3. Associate membership:  $50.00
    • any individual, group or institution
    • no vote at AGM
  4. Institutional membership:  $100.00
    • Māori group, organisation or institution
    • entitled to one vote at AGM

Subscriptions are valid for the twelve months following receipt of payment.
